Built in 1871, the Italianate-style home at reflects the Picturesque Movement in American architecture. The only example of Italianate architecture in Lewes, this historic house features a low profile roof, deep bracketed eaves, pedimented windows, and classical columns. The home still features its original wood floors, a wide "living" foyer, and a walnut grand staircase. Throughout the original house, spacious rooms boast wide moldings at the floor and crown moldings that enhance ceilings 11 ft high. The living room features an intricate plaster cornice and an elaborate plaster-and-wood medallion in the center of the ceiling. The home commands a spacious lot at the prominent corner of Kings Hwy and Washington Street.
